Activities in Bilbao

San Mamés is the home of Athletic Club de Bilbao, one of Spanish football's most historic clubs. Known as 'La Catedral' (The Cathedral), the current stadium was rebuilt in 2013 with a luminous ETFE and steel façade that glows at night in Athletic's red and white.

The Funicular de Artxanda is a century-old cable railway that climbs from the banks of the Nervión to the summit of Monte Artxanda in just three minutes. The ride offers steadily expanding panoramic views over Bilbao's cityscape.

The Nervión River Walk is a 15-km pedestrian promenade following both banks of the Nervión from the Casco Viejo downstream to the estuary mouth. It connects virtually all of Bilbao's major cultural landmarks, bridges, and waterfront parks in a single continuous route.
