Overview
The Funicular de Artxanda is a century-old cable railway that climbs from the banks of the Nervión to the summit of Monte Artxanda in just three minutes. The ride offers steadily expanding panoramic views over Bilbao's cityscape.

History
Inaugurated on 7 October 1915, the funicular was designed by engineer Leonardo Torres Quevedo. It was closed in 1977 and reopened after a complete renovation in 1983 with new electric carriages.
