The Nervión River Walk is a 15-km pedestrian promenade following both banks of the Nervión from the Casco Viejo downstream to the estuary mouth. It connects virtually all of Bilbao's major cultural landmarks, bridges, and waterfront parks in a single continuous route.
The riverside promenades were developed as part of Bilbao's post-industrial urban renewal in the 1990s and 2000s. Previously, the riverbanks were lined with shipyards, warehouses, and industrial facilities.
