Zemun was a separate Austro-Hungarian town until 1934, and it retains a distinctly Central European character that contrasts with Belgrade proper. Its narrow streets, pastel-coloured houses, and Danube quay feel more like a small Habsburg town than a city district.

Skadarlija is Belgrade's bohemian quarter — a 400-metre cobblestone street lined with traditional Serbian restaurants (kafane), antique shops, and street musicians. Often compared to Montmartre in Paris, it has been the gathering place of Serbian writers, poets, and artists since the 1830s.

Knez Mihailova is Belgrade's main pedestrian boulevard, stretching from Republic Square to Kalemegdan Park. This car-free street, lined with 19th-century Habsburg-era facades, serves as the city's commercial and social spine — home to bookshops, boutiques, ice-cream vendors, and buskers.

Dorćol is one of Belgrade's oldest neighborhoods, stretching from Knez Mihailova down toward the Danube. Its Ottoman-era street grid has been overlaid with Habsburg-era facades, craft coffee shops, and independent boutiques, making it a local favourite for afternoon strolls.

Belgrade Waterfront is a large-scale mixed-use development along the right bank of the Sava River. Featuring a modern promenade, the Galerija shopping mall, and the landmark Kula Belgrade tower (168 m), it represents the most ambitious urban renewal project in Serbia's history.

Savamala is Belgrade's gritty-turned-creative district along the Sava River. Once a neglected warehouse area, it has been transformed into a hub of galleries, start-ups, street art, and some of Belgrade's best bars and clubs, while retaining enough industrial edge to feel authentic.

Strahinjića Bana Street, locally known as 'Silicone Valley,' is Belgrade's trendiest café-bar strip. Running through the upper Dorćol neighborhood, it is lined with stylish terraces, cocktail bars, and see-and-be-seen crowds from afternoon until well past midnight.
