Yangon Zoological Gardens, established in 1906, is one of Southeast Asia's oldest zoos. Located between Shwedagon Pagoda and Kandawgyi Lake, it houses over 1,000 animals across shaded grounds with mature tropical trees. While not a world-class modern zoo, it offers an interesting glimpse into Myanmar's biodiversity and is a popular family destination.

Kandawgyi Park is a landscaped green space encircling Kandawgyi Lake, a 60-acre artificial lake in central Yangon. The park offers serene walks along boardwalks with views of the Karaweik Palace and, across the water, the glittering Shwedagon Pagoda. It's a popular spot for joggers, couples, and families, especially in the cooler evening hours.

Maha Bandula Park is a small, well-maintained green space in the heart of downtown Yangon, centred around the Independence Monument — a 46-metre obelisk commemorating Myanmar's independence from Britain in 1948. Surrounded by City Hall, Sule Pagoda, the High Court, and the former Inland Water Transport building, the park sits at the crossroads of colonial and contemporary Yangon.

Inya Lake is Yangon's largest lake, a natural body of water surrounded by university campuses, diplomatic residences, and leafy neighbourhoods. Less touristic than Kandawgyi, it offers a tranquil escape from the city with pleasant walking paths along its southern shore. The lake has witnessed significant historical events, including student protests at nearby Yangon University.

People's Park is a popular urban green space on Shwedagon Pagoda Road, offering a welcome break from the city's heat and traffic. The park features a musical fountain, children's playground, and shaded walkways. Its proximity to Shwedagon makes it a convenient post-pagoda stop, and the park comes alive in the evenings with families and food vendors.
