History
Kandawgyi Lake was originally created by the British in the 1880s as a reservoir for the city's water supply. The surrounding area was developed into a park over the 20th century. The lake is fed by Inya Lake to the north via underground pipes. Major portions of the boardwalk network were rebuilt after a fire destroyed parts of the lakeside in 2013.
