Viewpoints in Agra

The Yamuna Bank Viewpoint is a free, open-access stretch of riverbank directly behind the Taj Mahal, offering unobstructed views of the monument's northern facade. It is one of the few places to photograph the Taj from across the river without an entry fee.

Musamman Burj is an octagonal tower with an open pavilion projecting from Agra Fort's eastern wall, directly facing the Taj Mahal. It is famously the place where Shah Jahan was imprisoned by Aurangzeb and spent his final years gazing at the tomb of his beloved wife.

From the northeast bastion of Agra Fort, a view unfolds that Shah Jahan himself once gazed upon during his years of imprisonment. The white silhouette of the Taj Mahal shimmers across the Yamuna bend — arguably the most iconic vantage point in all of Agra.

About 70 km south of Agra, the Chambal River carves deep ravines through the Vindhyan plateau. A scenic overlook above the gorge offers sweeping views of the river's blue-green bends and the eroded sandstone badlands below.
