Museums in Dubrovnik

The Rector's Palace is a Gothic-Renaissance masterpiece that served as the seat of the Rector of the Republic of Ragusa. Now Dubrovnik's city museum, its elegant atrium, arcaded loggia, and period rooms chronicle 700 years of the republic's history.

The Museum of the Homeland War occupies Fort Imperial on Mount Srđ, combining dramatic displays about the 1991–92 siege of Dubrovnik with panoramic views from the mountaintop.

The Maritime Museum occupies the upper floors of St. John's Fortress on the old port, tracing Dubrovnik's 1,000-year history as a maritime republic. Ship models, navigation instruments, and maps recall when Ragusa rivalled Venice as an Adriatic naval power.
