Capital Bikeshare operates over 700 stations across the D.C. metro area, making it one of the largest bike-share programs in the United States. The flat terrain of the National Mall and protected bike lanes make cycling an ideal way to explore the monuments.

History
Capital Bikeshare launched in September 2010 with 1,100 bikes at 114 stations. It has since expanded to 6,000+ bikes across D.C., Arlington, Alexandria, and parts of Maryland, becoming an integral part of the city's transportation infrastructure.

- Tip 1: The single-trip unlock fee is affordable; the Day Pass offers unlimited 30-minute rides for 24 hours.
- Tip 2: Ride the Mall in early morning before crowds—monuments are beautifully lit at dawn and paths are empty.
