The San Diego Museum of Art is the oldest and largest art museum in the region, housed in a stunning Spanish Plateresque building in the heart of Balboa Park. Its collection spans 7,000 years with strengths in Spanish and Italian Old Masters.
Founded in 1926, the museum was built for the 1915 Panama-California Exposition site. It houses over 20,000 objects and has grown to include significant holdings in American, European, and Asian art.
