Mill Ends Park is the world's smallest park — a single circle of vegetation two feet in diameter in the median strip of SW Naito Parkway. Recognized by Guinness World Records, it is one of Portland's most beloved quirky attractions.
Created by Oregon Journal columnist Dick Fagan in 1948 when he noticed a vacant hole for a light pole outside his office window and began planting flowers. He wrote columns about the park's imaginary leprechaun resident. It was officially designated as a city park in 1976.
