Christ Church is one of the most important colonial-era churches in America. Founded in 1695, the current building (1744) features a 60-meter steeple that was the tallest structure in North America for nearly 50 years.
Founded as a Church of England parish in 1695, Christ Church was the most prominent colonial church in Philadelphia. Its steeple (1754) was the tallest structure in North America until 1810. Seven signers of the Declaration are buried in its churchyard.
