The Faubourg Marigny is a colorful Creole suburb adjacent to the French Quarter, known for its shotgun houses painted in vibrant colors, LGBTQ+ culture, and the Frenchmen Street music scene.
Subdivided from the plantation of Bernard de Marigny in 1805, the neighborhood was one of the first Creole faubourgs outside the French Quarter. It experienced gentrification beginning in the 1990s.
