Confluence Park marks the historic spot where Cherry Creek meets the South Platte River — the exact location where Denver was founded in 1858. Today the park anchors a network of riverside trails and is a gateway to the Platte River Greenway.
The confluence was the site of the original Auraria and Denver City settlements during the Pikes Peak Gold Rush. The park was developed in the 1970s as part of the South Platte River reclamation project.
