Trinity Church in Copley Square is a masterpiece of Richardsonian Romanesque architecture, completed in 1877. Its richly painted interior, designed by John La Farge, features some of the finest ecclesiastical murals and stained glass in America.
Designed by Henry Hobson Richardson and consecrated in 1877, Trinity Church was recognized by the American Institute of Architects as one of the ten most significant buildings in the United States. Its construction required driving 4,500 wooden pilings into the Back Bay's filled tidal flat.
