SoWa Open Market

Overview

The SoWa Open Market is Boston's premier outdoor art, vintage, and food market, operating every Sunday from May through October in the South End's SoWa Art + Design District. Hundreds of local artisans, farmers, and food trucks fill the open lots along Harrison Avenue.

History

SoWa ("South of Washington") began as an artist-led revitalization of abandoned warehouse buildings in the late 1990s. The open market launched in 2003 and has grown into one of the largest artisan markets in the northeastern United States.

Visitor Tips

• Sundays only: 10 AM–4 PM, May through October; arrive early for the best vintage finds.
• Bring cash: While many vendors accept cards, smaller stalls may be cash-only.
• Duration: 1–1.5 hours.
