History

Jim Koch founded the Boston Beer Company in 1984, brewing the first batch of Samuel Adams Boston Lager in his kitchen using his great-great-grandfather's recipe. The Jamaica Plain brewery opened as a visitor center in 1988 and helped spark the American craft beer movement.
