The Paul Revere House in the North End is the oldest remaining structure in downtown Boston, built around 1680. Revere owned it from 1770 to 1800, and it was from here that he departed on his legendary midnight ride on April 18, 1775.
Built around 1680, the house is one of the few surviving examples of 17th-century urban architecture in America. Revere purchased it in 1770 while raising a family of 16 children. It was rescued from demolition in 1902 by Revere's great-grandson.
