The Elisabet Ney Museum preserves the former studio of German-born sculptor Elisabet Ney, who created portrait busts of European leaders before emigrating to Texas. The museum displays her original sculptures and hosts contemporary art exhibitions.
Elisabet Ney built her studio in Hyde Park in 1892. After her death in 1907, the Texas Fine Arts Association preserved the building as a museum — making it one of the oldest art museums in Texas. It reopened after restoration in 1911.
