Parque de las Palapas is the social heart of downtown Cancún, a landscaped plaza lined with thatched palapa shelters where families, street performers, and food vendors converge every evening. It offers a genuine slice of Mexican daily life away from the Hotel Zone.
Designed in the 1970s as part of Cancún's original master plan, the park was envisioned as a community gathering space for the city's growing workforce population. Its palapas — traditional Maya thatched structures — pay homage to regional architecture.
