Overview

Lucca Comics & Games is Europe's largest comic book and gaming convention, transforming the entire walled city into a festival ground each late October/early November. Over 500,000 visitors descend on Lucca for five days of anime, manga, tabletop gaming, cosplay, and graphic novel culture.

History

Founded in 1966 as a small comic exhibition, the festival has grown into one of the world's largest pop-culture conventions and Italy's biggest annual cultural event by attendance. It predates both San Diego Comic-Con (1970) and Angoulême (1974).

• Book Early: Hotels sell out months in advance — consider staying in Pisa or Pistoia and taking the train.
• Day Tickets: Advance purchase is essential; gate sales cease quickly.
