Overview
The Igari Anchor Observatory sits on a hilltop above Pohang's main harbour, offering a sweeping panorama that takes in the commercial port, the vast POSCO steel complex, Yeongil Bay, and the mountains ringing the city. A large anchor sculpture at the summit marks the viewpoint.
Highlights
- 360° Harbour Views: One of the few elevated vantage points in central Pohang, with clear sightlines to both the industrial and natural waterfronts.
- Sunset Spot: The westward view over the city and mountains makes this an excellent late-afternoon destination.
- Anchor Sculpture: A large ship's anchor installation that has become a popular selfie backdrop.
History
The hill was developed as a public lookout during Pohang's waterfront improvement projects in the 2010s, with a paved walking path and viewing platforms added to make the summit accessible.
