Overview
A 1.8 km saltwater canal running through the centre of Songdo Central Park, fed directly by the Yellow Sea. Visitors can kayak, ride water taxis, or stroll the landscaped promenades that line both banks.
Highlights
- Kayaking & paddleboarding: Rental stations at the canal's midpoint offer single and tandem kayaks year-round.
- Water taxi: A hop-on-hop-off boat service glides the full canal length with stops near G-Tower and NC Cube.
- Evening lights: After sunset the canal bridges are lit in changing colours, creating a popular photo spot.
History
The canal was engineered as part of the Songdo International Business District masterplan in the early 2010s, designed to bring tidal seawater inland and create a living shoreline within the reclaimed-land development.
