Overview
Mount Tohamsan (745 m) is the sacred peak east of Gyeongju that shelters both Bulguksa Temple and Seokguram Grotto on its slopes. The ridge trail connecting the two UNESCO sites offers panoramic views of the East Sea and the Gyeongju basin, making it one of the most rewarding day hikes in the region.

History
Tohamsan has been a sacred mountain in Korean Buddhism since the Silla period, when it was considered the eastern guardian peak of the Silla capital. The concentration of major temples and hermitages on its slopes reflects centuries of royal Buddhist patronage.
