Chinatown Food Street is a sheltered al fresco dining strip on Smith Street, running through the heart of Singapore's Chinatown. Over 20 hawker stalls serve Singapore's signature dishes — char kway teow, satay, Hainanese chicken rice, and laksa — under a retractable canopy that protects diners from tropical downpours.
Smith Street has been a food destination since the 1950s, when itinerant hawkers lined the road. The current covered food street was established in 2014 as part of a Chinatown revitalisation, formalising the street-food tradition while maintaining its atmospheric character.
