Punta Hermosa is Lima's premier surf destination, about 40 km south of central Lima. It hosts the annual World Surf League event and has a laid-back beach-town atmosphere.

History
Originally a fishing village, Punta Hermosa developed into Lima's surfing capital from the 1960s onward. The WSL has included its big-wave break in the championship tour.
