Sarinah is Indonesia's first department store, reopened in 2022 after a dramatic renovation that transformed it into a showcase of Indonesian artisan brands, contemporary design, and curated food courts on Jl. MH Thamrin.

History

Opened in 1966 and named after Soekarno's childhood nanny, Sarinah was a symbol of national modernisation. Its 2022 reinvention stripped away the tired department-store format and replaced it with a culturally curated retail experience.
