In the Old Town mahallas around Chorsu, several workshops offer hands-on experiences in traditional Uzbek crafts, from suzani embroidery to miniature painting and woodcarving. These workshops are run by artisan families continuing centuries-old techniques.
Uzbek craft traditions were nearly lost during the Soviet period, when industrial production was prioritized over handwork. Since independence, a revival movement has seen artisan families reopen workshops and begin teaching their skills to visitors and local apprentices alike.
