El-Merosi Theatre

Overview

El-Merosi is a nightly sound-and-light spectacle projected onto the façade of the Registan's three madrasas. The 45-minute show uses high-definition projection mapping, orchestral music, and narration to tell the story of Samarkand from the Silk Road era through Timur's conquests. It is one of the most spectacular ways to experience the Registan.

History

The show was launched in 2018 as part of Samarkand's push to develop cultural tourism. It was produced in collaboration with international light show designers and has been updated with new content and technology.
