Surin Beach

Overview

Surin Beach is a 700-metre strip of caramel-coloured sand set between granite headlands on Phuket's upscale west coast. Long associated with beach clubs and luxury resorts, it offers a more refined atmosphere than Patong while maintaining natural beauty.

History

Surin was developed as an upscale alternative to Patong in the early 2000s. In 2017, the Thai government removed all permanent beach structures under a nationwide beach cleanup initiative; the area has since been partially redeveloped.

Visitor Tips

• Caution: Strong undertow during May–October monsoon season — swim only when green flags are displayed.
• Getting there: About 25 minutes north of Phuket Town by car.
• Duration: 2–3 hours.
