Sarasin Bridge

Overview

Sarasin Bridge is the original road bridge connecting Phuket Island to mainland Phang Nga Province across a narrow strait. Completed in 1967, it was replaced by a newer bridge for vehicle traffic and now serves as a pedestrian walkway and scenic viewpoint.

History

Built in 1967 and named after Field Marshal Sarit Thanarat's predecessor, the bridge ended Phuket's isolation as a ferry-only island. When the adjacent Thep Krasattri Bridge opened in 2006, Sarasin was converted to pedestrian use.

• Sunset: A less-congested sunset spot than the popular west-coast viewpoints.
• Combine: Near Sirinat National Park and Mai Khao Beach for a northern Phuket day trip.
