Royal Park Rajapruek is a 200-hectare botanical garden and horticultural park southwest of the city, originally built for the 2006 Royal Flora Ratchaphruek international expo. Its centrepiece is the Ho Kham Luang, a magnificent Lanna-style royal pavilion with a multi-tiered golden roof.
The park was created for the Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006 horticultural exposition celebrating King Bhumibol Adulyadej's 60th year on the throne. Over 30 countries contributed pavilions and gardens, many of which remain.
