Colon Street is the oldest street in the Philippines, established during the Spanish colonial period and named after Christopher Columbus (Cristóbal Colón in Spanish). This narrow, bustling commercial thoroughfare runs through the heart of downtown Cebu and remains one of the city's most vibrant commercial districts.
Colon Street was laid out during the early Spanish colonial period as the main commercial road of the settlement. Named after Christopher Columbus, it connected the port area to the inland districts. During the American period, it became Cebu's premier shopping street. Though its pre-war grandeur has faded, it retains its commercial vitality and historical significance.
