Kumari Ghar is the palatial residence of the Royal Kumari, a young girl worshipped as the living incarnation of the goddess Taleju. Located in Kathmandu Durbar Square, the 18th-century building features one of the most exquisite courtyards in the valley.
Built in 1757 by King Jaya Prakash Malla. The Kumari tradition dates back to at least the 17th century. The Kumari is selected from the Shakya clan through rigorous tests and serves until puberty.
