Kopan Monastery is a Tibetan Buddhist monastery on a hilltop north of Boudhanath, known internationally for its meditation courses. Founded by Lama Thubten Yeshe, it attracts spiritual seekers from around the world.

History
Founded in 1969 by Lama Thubten Yeshe and Lama Thubten Zopa Rinpoche. The November meditation course, begun in 1971, became world-famous. The monastery now houses about 360 monks.
