Overview
Changu Narayan is the oldest Hindu temple in the Kathmandu Valley, perched on a hilltop east of Bhaktapur. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and contains some of the finest stone, wood, and metal carvings in Nepal.

History
The earliest inscription dates to 464 CE during the reign of King Mandeva. The current pagoda dates primarily from 1702 after fire destroyed the earlier building. UNESCO inscribed it in 1979.
