Galeria Perdana displays over 2,500 diplomatic gifts and awards received by former Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad during his 22d years in office. The eclectic collection ranges from jewelled ceremonial swords and gold filigree to crystal vases and sports cars.

History

Opened in 1995, the gallery was Dr. Mahathir's personal gift to Langkawi, reflecting his role in transforming the island from a sleepy backwater into an international tourist destination. The collection represents Malaysia's diplomatic relationships spanning decades.
