The Bogyoke Aung San Museum is the preserved family home of Aung San, Myanmar's independence hero who was assassinated in 1947 at the age of 32. The modest two-storey house displays personal effects, photographs, and furniture belonging to Aung San and his family, offering an intimate glimpse into the life of the man who negotiated Myanmar's independence from Britain.
Aung San (1915–1947) is revered as the father of modern Myanmar. He led the independence negotiations with the British and forged the Panglong Agreement with ethnic minority leaders in 1947. He was assassinated alongside six cabinet ministers on 19 July 1947, just months before independence. The house was turned into a museum in 1962.
