Overview
The Grimaldi Forum is Monaco's premier congress and cultural centre, located on the Larvotto waterfront. Opened in 2000, this modern 35,000 m² venue hosts major art exhibitions, conferences, and concerts throughout the year.
Highlights
- Blockbuster Exhibitions: Annual summer exhibitions feature world-class art shows (Monet, Picasso, Giacometti have all been subjects).
- Waterfront Architecture: The glass-and-steel building extends partially over the sea, with terraces overlooking Larvotto Beach.
- Concert Venue: The main auditorium seats 1,800 and hosts international musical acts and Monaco's Printemps des Arts festival.
History
The Grimaldi Forum was inaugurated in July 2000 as part of Monaco's push to diversify beyond gambling. Designed by architects Fabrice Notari and Jean-Michel Wilmotte, it was built into the Larvotto hillside with a partially submerged structure to minimise visual impact.
