The Chemin de la Corniche has been called 'the most beautiful balcony in Europe' - a narrow cliffside promenade that winds along the edge of the old town, 70 metres above the Alzette River, with sweeping views over the Grund and Kirchberg.
The promenade follows the old fortress walls above the Alzette. It was formalised as a walkway in the 19th century when the military ramparts were opened to civilians after the 1867 demilitarisation treaty.
