Viharamahadevi Park is Colombo's oldest and largest public park, a 24-hectare green space directly facing the National Museum and the Town Hall. Named after a 2nd-century BC Sinhalese queen, it features flowering trees, a small zoo, and open-air stages.
Originally named Victoria Park in 1897, the park was renamed in 1958 after Queen Viharamahadevi, the mother of King Dutugamunu. It served as a British recreational ground during the colonial period.
