Cheonjeyeon Waterfall

Overview

Cheonjeyeon Waterfall (not to be confused with nearby Cheonjiyeon) is a three-tiered waterfall system in the Jungmun tourism complex on Jeju's southern coast. The first cascade drops into a cave pool, which then feeds two more falls further downstream. The Seonimgyo (Fairy Bridge) connecting the falls is one of Jeju's most photographed spots.

History

The name Cheonjeyeon means 'pond of the Emperor of Heaven.' Local legend says seven nymphs descended from heaven to bathe in the first pool's crystal-clear waters. The entire waterfall system and surrounding forest are designated a Natural Monument of South Korea.

• All Three Falls: Walk the full trail to see all three tiers — most visitors only go to the first.
• Rainy Season: The upper falls may be dry during drought periods; visit in summer or after rain.
• Duration: 45 minutes to 1 hour.
