Songdo Central Park is a 41-hectare green space at the heart of Songdo International Business District, built on reclaimed tidal flats. Its centrepiece is a 1.8-kilometre seawater canal surrounded by lawns, cycling paths, and modern sculptures. The park offers a striking contrast between nature and the glassy high-rises of Korea's flagship smart city.
Songdo's master plan, launched in 2003 by Gale International and POSCO E&C, designated the park as the district's green lung, modelled on New York's Central Park. The canal was completed in 2009 and the surrounding towers followed through the 2010s.
