Jayu Park (Freedom Park) is Korea's first Western-style public park, established in 1888 on a wooded hilltop overlooking Incheon Harbour. It is best known for its statue of General Douglas MacArthur, commemorating the 1950 Incheon Landing. The terraced pathways wind through pine and cherry trees and open onto sweeping views of the port and the Yellow Sea.
Originally named Gakguk Park (Park of Many Nations), it was renamed Jayu (Freedom) Park after the Korean War. The MacArthur statue was donated by the Korean people in gratitude and has become the park's defining landmark.
