Naminoue Beach (波の上ビーチ) is the only beach within walking distance of central Naha, nestled beneath the dramatic clifftop Naminoue Shrine. Despite its compact size, it offers white sand and swimmable turquoise water right in the city.
Historically a sacred beach associated with Naminoue Shrine, the beach was redeveloped in the 1990s with added sand and modern facilities. A highway overpass built above the beach is controversial but doesn't diminish the beach's charm for locals and visitors.
