Bolgatty Palace is one of the oldest existing Dutch palaces outside Holland, built in 1744 on the scenic Bolgatty Island in the midst of Kochi's backwaters. Now operated as a heritage hotel by the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation, the palace and its lush grounds offer panoramic water views.
Dutch traders built the palace in 1744 as a residence for the Dutch governor. After the British took control in 1795, it served as the British Resident's house. Post-independence, the Kerala government converted it into a heritage hotel. The island is now connected to the mainland by a road bridge but retains its island character.
