Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKK) is a multi-arts centre designed by the celebrated Indian architect Charles Correa, inspired by the nine-square plan of Jaipur's original layout (the Navagraha mandala). It hosts contemporary art exhibitions, theatre, film screenings, and crafts workshops across its geometric spaces.
Commissioned by the Rajasthan government and inaugurated in 1993, JKK was one of Charles Correa's most thoughtful public buildings. The design references Maharaja Jai Singh II's original grid plan for Jaipur, which was based on the Vastu Purusha Mandala — a Hindu architectural template.
