Civil Lines is the leafy, colonial-era quarter south of the walled city where the British administration once operated. Today it blends heritage bungalows with boutique hotels, modern cafes, art galleries, and Jaipur's contemporary cultural scene.
The Civil Lines area was established during British colonial rule as the administrative and residential quarter for British officers, physically separated from the walled Indian city. After independence, the tree-lined avenues attracted affluent Jaipur families, and in recent decades the neighbourhood has evolved into a hub for Jaipur's creative class.
