Chini Ka Rauza is the tomb of Afzal Khan, a Persian poet who served as Shah Jahan's prime minister. Built in the mid-17th century on the banks of the Yamuna, it is notable for its Persian-style glazed tile work — unique in India.
Built around 1635, the name translates to 'China Tomb' because the brightly coloured tile-work reminded people of Chinese porcelain. Though much of the exterior glazing has been lost to time, the tomb remains an important example of Persian-influenced Mughal architecture.
