Agra Bear Rescue Facility

Overview

The Agra Bear Rescue Facility is run by Wildlife SOS and provides a permanent sanctuary for sloth bears rescued from the illegal 'dancing bear' trade. Located near Sikandra on the Agra-Delhi highway, it houses over 100 rescued bears.

History

Established in 1999, the facility began rescuing Kalandar bears and providing alternative livelihoods to the Kalandar community. It became a model for wildlife rescue operations across South Asia.
